DEVOID is inspired by the significance of human emotions in the Romanticism era, it is primarily about how humans cope and survive by being emotionally detached nowadays. This is a reminder from past aesthetics, that amidst the chaos in our life, we shall never lose emotional awareness and consciousness.

Emotional detachment is the diminished awareness of one’s emotions or thoughts driven by self-preservation. This core concept is transformed into fashion items through heavy referencing to studies on cold-blooded animals and humanoid robots as embodiment of the apathetic. DEVOID is designed utilizing lines and digital printing to convey the context of emotional detachment. In addition, the use of digital print provides more context to the collection, they are inspired by imagery of thermal sensitive pictures and cold-blooded animals.

Elements pulled from cold-blooded animals, humanoid robots and human anatomy are mixed with the use of texture, prints, shapes and lines, to present a mutation of humanity, an unnatural hybrid, so to speak. Thermography is referenced for colour story, the temperature sensitive changes of colour embodies the fluctuation of emotions, with dashes of warm colours amid predominantly cold tones.
The look of exotic animals is adopted both in terms of silhouette and colours: quilting is used to mimic snake skin for example. There are curves throughout to denote emotions running through the body, while piping also depicts an image of a robot assembled from different parts. Classic wool and basics are applied with more contemporary PVC and mesh to create contrasting textures that reflect the juxtaposed past and present.
