This collection combines 3 elements that are common in each Alexander McQueen collection by Sarah Burton up until 2018: the natural world, British heritage/history and fantasy. Keeping the central theme of Romanticism, naturalism and nationalism, aesthetic is pulled from the north sea, the royal navy and Scottish folklore beings- Selkies.
This collection introduces the idea of merging history and fantasy, logic and imagination, ocean inspired colour story and fabrics are selected to merge with elements like ruffles, stripes, military embroidered badges, to create signature McQueen items like sheer corseted gowns, shirt dress, slashed peplum suits and body chains.
